oats and austrian winter peas. had to put my deer fence back up to keep them out. i got kill a few more of the peach stealing (censored).

Man, that looks great. When did you put the seed down? I wish mine was that far along, but we have been hard pressed to find any rain this year on a consistent basis. We sure had it in spades last year though.
thanks. sept 27. i wanted to have it down by at least sept 15 but we got that rain labor day and put me behind, but since it looks like we probably wont have any hard cold temps by january and i think it will do great and add a lot to the soil. yeah i have had to water 2 or 3 times but clay soil holds water pretty good. i put down 7 pounds of peas and 15-20 pounds of oats since i broadcast the oats. and then i set my rear tine at about and inch and forward cultivate it to cover the seeds, and it appears by doubling the oat rate it was about perfect because the oats that werent covered didnt germinate, but the peas did.
anyway, i didnt do the barley because the co-op had meal bugs in all the seed bags and barley takes quit a bit more water than oats.

Thanks to you as well. Just one question- Reckon it will ever get cold enough this winter to kill the beans and peas, much less the oats?

maybe in january as they are calling for a late el nina that they are fearing will cause freezing temps all the way to florida and could cause damage to the orange crop. if it doesnt get below 10 deg like it did last year or year before then ill crimp it down. saw a video on youtube of a guy that made a crimper out of a piece of 2x4, angle iron and rope. looked like what you would use to make crop circles in wheat lol.
