Thanks Dave. I'm just a beginner and I shake to bad to ever paint any detail. There are some guys out there painting baits that make them look real. I'm just lucky enough to be able to fade colors decently. I have had the shakes for years now and with arthritis, I figure it's only going to get worse.

Shakes or not you do a great job. I swear to you my efforts look like a 3 year old with crayons.

Once I painted big red eyes on a lure. When my buddy saw it he took a knife and scraped it off telling me maybe 20 times you really don't need to be doing this You really shouldn't be doing this please no more the lure was just fine. He later told me it made my lure look like cyclops. I never told anyone that was my 5th attempt!!!

I do not have any blank bodies that run that depth. Closest thing I have is a 7-9 foot bait. Midtnkayakangler on here said his wife paints. She might have something. I think the 5XD by Strike King runs that range. If you had an old one of those you could have it repainted by someone.

Rootbeer is one of those colors that can widely vary according to who is painting it. Rootbeer to me is more green than it is brown but Ive seen guys lean way brown. It's a hard color to get right because you never know exactly what the person wants.

All 4 of the tops of these plugs fall into the rootbeer range for people. The sides are a little different. On the sides of the 2 darkest is what a lot of guys call rootbeer. The rootbeer bandit 200 bait is what i lean towards if you know that color. It's hard to duplicate and i get it wrong more than right.
