My Kentucky way I fix ham at Christmas and Thanksgiving
Cliffy farm ham or Harper.
Soak in a kettle of water for three days , change the water often
Hock the ham and scrub it up clean.
Put ham in kettle of water covering the ham
Boil until ham reaches 160 degrees in the middle , usually about 3.5 to 4 hours.
Put it to bed over night.

Put to bed ??
Place heavy towels in and around your kitchen sink
Set entire kettle, water and all in the sink wrapping towels around the outside of the kettle , lay more towel on top of kettle to keep the heat in.
Leave over night
Next morning ham will still be warm . Slice the outside skin off along with some of the fat it will come off easily.
Slice some and have breakfast .
Take ham and make you a glaze and bake until warm . Slice and serve.
My glaze is stick of butter and brown sugar mixed and melted and poured over the drained ham . Add pineapple slices place on the ham , if you like them before pouring the glaze over the ham.

Try adding just 1 can of Coca-Cola to your water
