I been looking a little closer and noticed this. Could it be? Still don't really explain the hoof missing. Unless it rotted off... Will probably never know..



 
from the look of his messed up horns and small frame, i would say this deer has some major problems.

I see at least one half of the hoof there, but I dont know what happened there. no clue really. I killed a buck with only half of a back hoof, and another buck with a club foot that had been broken and healed all crooked and scarred. But neither were swollen like that.
