Cotton Fields ?

Does anyone hunt near or along cotton fields? Do cotton plants attract deer or deer activity?

I've hunted over cotton in Haywood Co. before. Several big deer came out of that field over the years. Can't say I ever saw them do it but I was told by the guys I was hunting with that deer would chew on the cotton bowl to get the oil out. That could be a myth though.

Deer feel safe in a cotton field. They can be hard to spot out there and they know it. I have seen many a buck chasing a doe across one.

In the past, deer rarely ate cotton. However, ever since roundup-ready cotton was invented, they started eating it.

I've never seen any indication of deer eating cotton around where I hunt. They just seem to like using the field because they can hide in it.

I've seen them eat he plants before they bloom. when they are just green leaved plants.

I think they use it for cover along with eating the cotton seeds. Cotton seed has been used for along time to make cattle feed with. Whatever they're reason they seem to like being in and around them.
