you can also leave it in the shucks, put in airtight bags and freeze to cook on the grill. Just remember to thaw it out a day before grilling.

Thanks. I ate some from wal-mart of all places and it tasted just like the corn from my grandfathers farm in south GA. Maybe he was buying it from wally world too.

LOL, I tell you what, the walmart brand of corn on the cob is better than any of the rest they have on the shelf!
If it is cooked and seasoned like the rest.

It is one of the few wally brand veggies that can hold it's own in my opinion!

Whats the best way for grilling corn? I love grilling, just never grilled corn. I have heard of it, but have never gotten around to trying it.

If you have the silk and shucks removed, just lather it in butter, a sprinkle of salt, wrap in foil and put on the grill.

If the shucks are on, peel back on side and add butter, close up and grill without the foil.

yummy

JCD, if you haven't tried this, I suggest you do.
wash and cut yellow squash into 1/2inch or less slices, place on foil, sprinkle with salt, garlic seasoning, pepper and if you like hot pepper, add a bit of that.
chop a medium onion and put that on top of the squash.
toss in three tablespoons of butter.
close foil, airtight, put on grill.

even if you don't like yellow squash, I bet you will eat this.
It is one of two ways, I can get hubby to eat yellow squash.

note: you can add chopped green and red peppers for color and flavor.

Thanks tndoe....you just described one of my favorite sides with the squash. I love doing just that and adding alot of lemon pepper. Squash is one of my favorite sides.

I just have never grilled corn. We planted 3 rows of Silver Queen, and Peaches and Cream and I cant wait until its ready!! I will try what you described with the corn. It sounds great. Thanks

That sounds just as good. I love me some red potatoes. I have never tried with olive oil. Hmm...might have to try that. Thanks

One thing that I have done too as well, is wrap up asparagus and put a good amount of butter, then salt & pepper in there as well. The thin ones work best.

Red taters, bell pepper, and half of a medium onion add olive oil and garlic salt to taste.

cook until taters are barely softened. You can also add some cubed up ham to the mix.

Talk about corn.

When my family had the auto auction we had a corn roast and watermlon feed once a year at the end of summer. I had to help with the corn, we left it in the shucks and placed them in a water filled tub overnight. In the other tub we iced down the watermelons and went to bed.

The next morning we set up the "grill", steel screans across blocks. We set 8 big bags of charcoal on fire inside the grill and once they burned down we set the corn on top, shucks and all. We then kept turning the corn whenever they needed it and then serviced the corn and watermelon to all the auto dealers and drivers. Every year we cooked 2,500 to 3,000 ears of corn this way.

The other time we use that grill was for the steaks for the auctions anniversary in May.

Follow West Tn Huntin'man's advice.

I boil mine in full rolling boil for 2 minutes and then quickly dip in ice water to stop the cooking process.

Cut the corn off the cob with an electric knife over a bunt pan and freeze.
