Here is a neat little beveled Dalton made from Crowleys Ridge chert.

Found in Shelby county.

If that was mine, I would call it a fluted Dalton!

Daltons are one of my favorite points. My all-time favorites are the Lecroy.
I've seen a few Daltons with short flutes or thinning basal flakes, but this point is tiny. I have another about the same size.

I've got a pic of a friend's great LeCroy that I hope to acquire one day. It's almost MaCorkle sized though!

Excuse my dirty hand in the pic!

Beautiful Lecroy! I found one broken in half beside an old sinkhole pond many years ago. The land owner cleared the land and I just happened to be the first to walk it. I found several Paleo points there but the best was the Lecroy. I wish I would have marked the points I found on that site so I could see everything that came off it. The Lecroy had serrated edges that were unbelievable. I wish that would have been whole. That site was converted to pasture land and was only broken a time or two in order to remove the stumps and roots.

LeCroys are really neat points, as well as their big brother MaCorkle. They are among the thinnest points known in our area. The punch flaking technique used to refine and sharpen them leaves some of the sharpest edges known!
