Considering a video camera set-up

Hello All, I'm considering purchasing a video system to video my and my grandsons hunts, I guess a cheap camera and arm to mount it to a tree. I was wondering if anyone has video'd their hunts and any suggestions for what to purchase or video filming suggestions?

I can tell you from personal experience don't use a gopro. I shot a deer at 20 yards with my bow and you could hardly see it on the video. I don't have a recommendation other than get something that can zoom.

If you are using an actual camera, a good arm is strongly recommended. I have an archers choice, it does a good job but don't think they make those anymore. I have not filmed any in quite a long time. I was using a Sony hd mini DV camera, have a lot of video of my kids hunts.

As stated earlier, how much you wanna spend? I use canon hfg40 but there are cheaper. Also use a gopro for stationary video of the hunter and quick interviews. If you are not self filming then the camera arm is optional. If you will be self filming the arm is a must and I highly recommend a throttle controller. I must warn you it's very addictive but it will be the best hunting experiences and memories for your grandson imaginable. You guys can learn to edit together, put it on youtube, and laugh the whole time. I'm excited for you.... my daughter and I have a great time posting on our sasquatch boogie outdoors youtube channel
