I shot a spike a couple weeks ago that had been shot the day before or a couple days before i shot it. what confuses me is the shot somebody else maid was perfect heart shot but the bullet must have stopped on empact i didnt look to see if it broke any ribs but the deer was acting just fine. i guess my question is, is why would a muzzleloader bullet just stop like that? i cant upload pics from my phone but could send a picture to someone that would put one on here for me!
 
I shot a spike opening weekend of black powered and know I made a good shot but could not find it. I shot mine with a round ball out if a side lock. I have heard the round balls have a bad habit of flatting out on impact. May have been the case with the deer you killed.

Yeah, shot looks low, especially if that's an entry wound. If they were shooting from a high angle like a deer stand, then it probably angled away from vital organs.

Only way to know for sure is looking at the guts, assuming that your shot and the other one don't involve the same area.
