Is it correct that TN requires you to register only 1 specific carry gun when you get your CC license? What if you sell the gun and buy another? What if you have a smaller "hot weather" gun and a full size "cool weather" gun where the temperature and corresponding amount of clothing you wear controls what you can conceal? I can't see why you would be restricted to any particular gun. Makes me not want to move back to TN if this is the case.

Not true. You can carry whatever and however many you can strap on. They don't have to be concealed either but if and when I carry I always carry concealed.

TN issues Handgun Carry Permits, not concealed carry permits (i.e., it is your choice to carry concealed or open). It is not tied to any one handgun. There is no handgun registration of any kind in TN, for carry or otherwise. You just need to pass the background check if you purchase one from a licensed dealer.

I thought I had read of it on this forum? :) OK, must have been dreaming. Glad I'm wrong in this case. Would be stupid for the law to be that way but since when does the law always make sense or be fair?

I was almost to the point of being ashamed of being from TN if the law forced you to register a specific gun in order to get a Carry Permit. Was certainly not looking forward to moving back up there in a few years if that had really been the case.

I know they do take the ss number when you take your skills test. Never heard of having to carry "just" that one. Glad you don't I have 3 different side arms.

Yeah, when it's so hot that you can't stand to wear enough clothes to conceal a real gun I carry a 380 - as soon it cools down I want something more.

They sure didn't take my number, and it was my gun. I don't know why they would.

I got my permit back in 98. I do remember them writing the pistol we used on our target. I don't remember them asking for s/n just make and model.

I bet hearing something like this is where I got the idea that one gun was "registered" to your permit and only that gun could be legally carried.

I agree with 348Winchester completely. They are selling us a Right that we are already guaranteed by the Constitution in the 1st place.
