Essentially, you cannot carry:
In a federal, state, or local government building.
In or on the grounds of a school (preK - University).
In a location that sells alcohol for ON-PREMISES consumption
Anywhere that is posted with appropriate signage, as seen below:
PURSUANT TO � 39-17-1359, THE OWNER/OPERATOR OF THIS PROPERTY HAS BANNED WEAPONS ON THIS PROPERTY, OR WITHIN THIS
BUILDING OR THIS PORTION OF THIS BUILDING. FAILURE TO COMPLY

The wording must be substantially similar. A sign with a picture of a handgun with a slash through it does not count.
TN is a "Stand your ground" state, in the sense that you have NO prior obligation to flee or otherwise draw down the situation before firing.
In TN, you can no longer be held liable in a civil suit if you have been cleared of criminal charges relating to your discharge of a gun in a defensive situation.
The class will go over all of this, and then some. They have many situation scenarios that discuss appropriate action, laws you must follow, things to keep in mind if you're involved in a deadly force situation, etc. You might think that 8 hours is a long time to listen to a bunch of stuff, but the class is VERY interesting & informative, and I don't remember a dull moment (except the 52 minute video they're required by law to show).
