Once you have taken the class, how long does it take to get the permit once you file for it? Same day? Weeks?

I would think it shouldn't take long. I renewed mine last month. Here is a breakdown of the renewal process.
Got the renewal application in the mail. Completed and mailed it back to Nashville(I think).
About a week later I got a letter from them stating that there was a issue with my photo. Letter informed me to go have a new photo taken. I waited a few days to get my photo taken as it was the first of December and I didn't want to wait in line with everybody else trying to get their DL's renewed.
Once the photo was taken, the fella that took my photo told me to wait 24 hours to notify Nashville that I had my new photo taken. So I called the next morning and spoke with a friendly young man. Told him who I was and that I had the new photo taken. He asked me to give him a minute. I could hear him punching away on a key board. He comes back and says I've got your photo and I will get your renewal processed.
Less than a week later I had my new carry ID. My renewal process might have been 2 weeks.
I know its different for the first timers(New HCP applicant) but the handgun office seems to be running fairly efficient at this time. Hopefully it wont be long.

took about 3 weeks. but it's not a CONCEALED carry permit. ;)
if its over 90 days you have to take the class again if you haven't sent it in,they had scanner problems & part of my application didn't get sent from the strawplains DOT center,almost 90 days went by before I got to the bottom of it. Resent all of the forms again & had in 2 weeks,all they could say was Oh you were 1 of those :(
You must complete the class within 6 months of applying for the original permit.mike243 said:

Took me about two weeks to get mine via mail, they sent me letter when it was time to renew. Week later new one in the mail with the same "horrid" picture as the first.
i have gotten them back in a couple of weeks also, this time its been 3 weeks and counting. the lady told me they tell everyone 90 days for some reason. but as long as i have the papers where i have renewed i am good to carry

Thanks for the replies. I may be going on a hog hunt in GA the first of march and was wondering if I would have time to get it by then. I have been meaning to get them, I just havent yet. Sounds like I am out of luck for that trip.
