if you want to reload you dont need one

if you want to reload the most accurate ammo you can it is a must have

True, provided you have access to a mill and endmills. Just drilling holes with drillbits wouldn't work.

I use a Forster Datum Dial for measuring to the ogive and case shoulders. You can get by without having one but once you use one a few times you'd wish you'd bought it sooner.
