Compact tractor suggestions???

Looking to buy a small tractor this spring. Not anything new or fancy but would like a 25 to 30 hp with a front end loader and 4wd. Just for around the house and to bush hog and make food plots. What's a good tractor for that and know of any for sale ??? Thanks

We have a Deere 1026R. It's a little tank. Loader, 4wd, belly mower, and they make a little backhoe attachment

Check out Branson tractors on on-line tractor forums like this one. Ours is very well built, heavy duty and we've had no issues with it. We use it similarly to what you're looking to use your for. It was also a lot cheaper than smaller John Deere's and Kubota's. My uncle has one of each of those and they are nice, especially the hydro-static transmission on the Kubota. But for the price difference and what you'll be using it for a Branson would be a good choice. If you can go see them in person before deciding. Branson's are built well and tough, just without the bells an whistles.

I really like my Yanmar 4x4 compact tractor. Just the right size to get into my out of the way food plots.
BTW Yanmar built John Deeres compact tractors for many years.

Our 1026 has a yanmar motor in it and it's a 2013

MY advise....Figure out your budget first and foremost, they are not cheap by any means but a great investment.
Then got to several dealers and get on them and drive them around the lot, play with the controls and so forth to see what fits you the best.
Keep in mind dealerships for repairs, you will have problems at some point and time whether it is new or not! A close relationship with your local dealer (with notable reputation) means a lot if you are broke down or need parts.
If you think 30 hp is big enuff and your budget allows go ATLEAST a size bigger if not two sizes, you can do a small job with a big tractor but can't do a big job with a small tractor. I am saying this from experience !

I chose a JD 3520 and looked at them all, it was a tuff decision between JD and Kubota but my fiancee's uncle sells at my local JD dealership and I got a few extra penny's off and I can usually get in if problems arise.
It has done what I have asked of it but like I said earlier, I wish I had gone a size or two bigger. I have gotten a hold of a few round bails of hay that it just couldn't manipulate with the FEL. A few more HP and little extra weight goes a long way and the physical size of the machine does not change much at all.
I looked at JD, Kubota, Case, New Holland, Mahindra and Kioti

Bought a T1110 (28hp) New Holland in 2008 has about 300 hours on it now been trouble free so far

Kubota hands down. Also Kubota has the cheapest, best insurance program , even on used Kubota tractors I have ever seen or dealt with.

I really like my Cub Cadet Yanmar 29 HP, with frond end loader and belly mower. I have had it 4+ years with not one problem great for my 5+ acre ranch. My advise is go 1 size larger than you think you will be using.

I have a 2004 Kubota L3400, 35HP, Front End loader, HST, 4wd. No complaints here.

For the size you're considering I'd recommend a Kubota L3200.

I like the little Kubotas, they do good for ranch work. I dont recall the model tho. Also in Afghanistan I saw a pretty cool little piece of equipment, not sure if they sell them state side as I havent seen one before. But it was Bobcat UTV, you can change the front end to any bobcat compatible attatchment (bucket, forks, augers, rock hounds, saws, etc), it also had a hydralic lift bed, and 4 wheel and crab steering like the atlas and hyster forklifts. You can take the front attatchment off and use it like a regular UTV. Can also pull or drag with rear trailer hitch. Seen it do about 40mph. Pretty cool machine! Also I believe that one had heat and a/c

I own a Mahindra and it has served us well. No problems out of it with about 2800 hours on it and we like it a lot.

I've been pleased with my little 1725 New Holland although I wished I'd have upsized. One thing I will recommend is the front end loader on whatever you get. You'll find unlimited uses for it.

A good friend of mine bought a JD 3038E last November. It was about $2000 cheaper than the comparable Kubota. The only thing that I don't like about it is the rear axle housing is cast aluminum. Apparently all the 3000 series Deere's have this. I reckon my old Yanmar 3000 is gonna outlast me
