how are things coming along for this year's deer season?
I'm not getting as much shooting in as I would like. a lot of family stuff ( old parents) is getting in the way.

What is the min accuracy yall want to achieve to feel confident with traditional equipment?

at one point I heard " 8" pie plate accuracy". if one can consistently place his/her shots in a 8" pie plate at X yards, they should be able to hunt. X yards is whatever distance that shooter can preform that accuracy. ex: if the shooter can do that at 15 yards but not 20 yards, then 15 yards should be his limit.

with that being said, each person should know his limit and he/she will know in their mind, and heart, where their shooting limit is. when hunting, you will know at the time of the shot 'I can make this shot or I can't make the shot' and make your decision right then.
when I shoot, I try to make the 'first shot count'. if I don't hit where I want, I try it with the next shot. if my mind isn't clear and focus, most of the time it doesn't happen on the first shot. if it does happen, my next shot(s) I try to Robin Hood the first arrow. I've never done a true RH but have come close.
for the 4-6 weeks before season, I only take 1 arrow to practice with. this helps me to concentrate on 1 shot. plus the extra walking is good for me.
I know of people that shoot at blank target faces. they pick a spot on that blank space and shoot at that spot. and will honestly tell you if they hit the spot or not.
just because you are not stacking them in a 2" circle doesn't mean your not ready but it doesn't hurt to try to stack them in a 2" circle.

I have been shooting a good bit season last season in hope of hunting with recurve this year. I can hit good one day and I feel like I am ready but the next day I can't hit jack and of course I feel like getting the compound out for hunting season.
