Great, congrats! How did the other 9 in camp do? Combined mule deer and elk?

CWD area though... that sucks having to deal with all the extras that come with that. But I'd still shoot either of those bucks cwd or not :)

There was one more smaller buck killed and one nice one shot at but missed.Three guys had elk tags but we scouted for three days and hunted for three days no one saw an elk.Three guys in camp got some awesome pictures of a bull moose at fifty yards.

We got up in the snow looking for the elk and seen some tracks but just could not find them.My buck was almost 24 inches ouside to outside.

Both are Super Muleys, congratulations, and particular for a DIY hunt on public land. I hunted Craig/Meeker for 7 years, got a nice 5x5 elk and a bunch of Muleys but nothing like yours. Kind of interested in what rifle/bullet combo you and your friend were toting.

I was shooting a Remington 700 ADL 270 with a Zeiss 3x9x40 using handloaded 130 grain ballistic tips. My friend was shooting a Encore 30-06 with a 4x Nikon using 180 grain ballistic tips. One of the guys we went with wanted to show us around Meeker but we never made it down there. Is the Elk hunting good down that way?

Congrats on a great hunt! We just got back from Pagosa Springs hunting and 5 of us killed 3 bears, a 6x6, 4x5, and a cow. very blessed and thankful for such opportunities

Greets Fm CO
Nice to see some folks fm TN had some good luck in CO. I also hunt a bunch in CO, but I'm "cheating" as I live here and have for 34 and a half years this time plus three years before that.
I hunted elk about 30 miles N and then 12 miles W of Steamboat. My bull is posted on the General Forum.
I usually hunt N and W and E of Craig. I also hunt up in Area 005 and have taken about half a dozen cows out of there plus several fm public land near Meeker.
It's getting harder and harder to get to hunt on private land here.
I'm originally fm Dyer, in Gibson county in NW TN.
Congrats on a fine trophy!! Ray

Thanks. Love it out there. I would move out to Colorado in a heartbeat if there was very many jobs. Seems like out of state hunters bring in most of the money for that area.

MWoodard, GREAT looking muley, Congrats on a getting it done, certainly two to be proud of. What would you guess they weighted field dressed?

Also I curious to the powder your burning under the 130 NBT?

Congrats,

I am using RL22 in the .270 and getting 3000 fps in a 22 inch barrel.I think the deer I killed probably dressed around 200 and my friend's around 275-300.They were both larger than anything I am used to seeing around here for sure.
