Colorado bound

This year has flown by! Its that time again-the truck is packed for the annual trek out West. Flyfishing around Almont then move over to my hunting spot about a week before the archery opener. I hope everyone got the tags they wanted---I plan on being back in TN for the archery opener here and hope its half as cool of weather when I return as what I'll be having in CO for the next two months. Cheers!

Well, I have 6 points, and it will be a race to see which comes first, the end of my life, or getting drawn for unit 76! lol
In the meantime, the Colorado antelope season opens two months from Sat. I hope to be in Limon, and then on to Wyoming. I've found that 100lb goats on the plains are far easier for a solo hunter to handle than those big ole white deer. Not to mention that its a great hunt for a DIY'er. Good Luck to all.

You've definetly got a shot if you're putting in with a bow, but otherwise it might take another decade or so with the point creep.

Almost like when BGG says one could start putting in for PI and expect to be drawn in 10 years.

Fantastic! The last bull that I killed was in 2003 in 76, and I've been accumlating points ever since. I know of a guy who got drawn for rifle with 10 pts this year, so maybe it wont take a decade(which I don't have, lol). However, if it looks like I'm not gonna make it with the rifle deal, I'll settle for the bow. I have a buddy who killed a cow in 76 last season. If I had to bet, these pictures were made on Ute ridge. I've got a video that was made by Sammy Frazier, a local guide of some renoun, that was probably made up in there, and the number of bulls in the summer above treeline is a sight to see.

Got some good pics of 4 mature bighorn rams feeding about 20 yds. away the other evening. Saturday morning I was hiking into the wilderness area and spotted a lone bull elk feeding ahead. He was about 50 yds. and had just stripped the velvet off his antlers. Actually there were strips of velvet hanging from the chalk white antlers as he walked and fed. I followed him for a bit but he moved off into the timber shortly. I'm seeing a few muley bucks but not as many as I hoped for. The rancher over in the area I was fishing for two days had a bull moose come in and agitate his horse. Having fun and moving every few days fishing,hiking, and looking at potentially new hunting areas. I'll be settling in and backpacking up to my hunting area next week. Cheers!
