Well, I have 8 and it won't get me into the unit that I covet, so my plan of attack will have to wait awhile.

76 usually first rifle. Points have been 10 for1st and 9 for 2nd and 3rd, and maybe 11 for Mzl for NR. Since I have 8 it is a no brainer that I can't get over the hump this year, so I suppose I'll put in for a point again. Trouble is, every year the points required keep increasing, so I may never catch up.

Try adding $349 for antelope plus trespass fee for a place to hunt and it gets cumbersome for a retiree!

ya thats alot. we only go about every 2 to 3 years so i dont mind cost yet. but if it keeps going up we might have look elsewhere. we do everything ourselves so the tag is by far the single biggest expense.

Got mine also. Will be putting in for a deer tag (should get drawn this year) and more elk points. I may put in for two more years on elk and if nothing changes...I'm cashing them in and dropping out.

Cashing them in? Do you mean walking away? I wish I could turn my 8 points into cash, since I will probably never draw out with the ongoing point creep. Plus I'm getting so long in the tooth that handling a 650 lb animal by myself is overwhelming.

I'm gonna pick a hunt in an area with 11 points and go hunting. After that, I doubt I will play the preference point game anymore.
