college baseball! who is ready?

I doubt there is a fan base more excited for college baseball than Miss state. We currently suck at everything else sports related, and we've spent all our football NIL on baseball.

We have fired our old head coach for winning the schools only national championship in baseball. (He missed the mark a few years) We spent millions and have combined two powerful baseball programs into one by absorbing virginias HC staff and best players.

The expectations are through the roof. It's Omaha or bust for us brown bulldogs. We have booked a room for the vanderbilt series the last week of spring break.

Opening day is friday and can't get here fast enough!

Tell me about your new baseball team and what you hope to see this year!?!

My nephew is playing for Cleveland State Community College. He was playing for Roane State but had the opportunity to come back home to play. I have some high expectations for his college baseball play. Hopefully, he can make an SEC roster with some coaching and growth.

I'm looking forward to Alabama's season. I really hope to see improvement this year. It's the third year under Vaughn. I've been happy with him so far. I think he's done a good job maximizing talent. I'm hopping Justin LeBron has a big year.
I'm not sure about Bama's pitching.
I'd like to see them play with a chip on their shoulder all year.

Yes, can't wait. Season is about here. I tell myself every year that I want to make the trip to Vanderbilt and watch a game. And every year, I don't make it. One day I will.
Will definitely go watch TN Tech play a few games as they are just down the road.
Nothing like a well manicured field and the smell of baseball in the air.

I love watching high school and college baseball. Vols have a new man in charge but since he was there with Vitello the whole time I don't look for a lot to change. Cautiously optimistic they get back to Omaha but that's a tough thing to do. My bonus son is a high school senior in Murfreesboro so I'll catch as many of his games as I can.

Vols have a new HEAD coach, but not new to the team. Going to be an interesting season. Good time of year -- Baseball/Softball starting up. Got Basketball reg season winding down, the conf tournaments and NCAA tournament or NIT..depending on your team.

They aren't the only ones!

It's a deep rooted tradition down in starkville. baseball was largely a california, and a texas thing in the 1970s.

a lot of the prestige of sec baseball became about from the rivalry between LSU HC skip bergman and MSU HC ron polk. Both men are considered godfathers of baseball at their respective colleges.

Watched most of the opener last night. Excited to see how things go for the Vols in the post Tony V era. I still hate it he's gone but am cautiously optimistic Elander and company can keep things going.

Also excited to see the newly renovated Lindsey Nelson stadium. Whole fam damily is headed down to Knoxville over spring break and we're going to the midweek game with all the kids.

We squeaked out an opening day win, but our team was playing tight and looked insanely nervous. The talent is through the roof but there's no doubt a lot of pressure on them, we have extremely high expectations as a fan base and aren't shy saying it.

We got out hit 10-3 opening day by hofstra. It wasn't ideal but Whenever hofstra gave us an opportunity to score we capitalized.

We have hitters in the 7, 8 and 9 hole that are all capable of 12-15 HRs this year. Our 9 hole yesterday was a grad student who has been a starter for 3 years and hit .350 last season.

Today I hope they settle their nerves and start showing off some big bats.

TN looked pretty good against Nichols in game 1 of a 3-game series. Though its opening weekend and a lot of changes at TN was good to see and a good crowd in attendance.

I don't see any drop off for the Vols. Their defense seems to be elite and the lineup is stacked with power sluggers again. Kuhns has definitely taken the next step as the Friday starter. Excited to see how Elander handles the bullpen. Florida dropped their opener to the UAB powerhouse

BaseVols got a 3game sweep of Nicholls. Kuhns did look good, the Fri-Sun rotation may get juggled around just because its so early yet. I think all the TN starting pitchers went 5+innings. They looked pretty good for their opener overall.

Kent just tied it at 3, top of the 9th. Tennessee pitchers have hit 6 batters and give up only 4 hits. They deserve to lose this one.

Former Walters State standout and East Tennessee native Tyler Myatt (soph) proved to be the hero with a solo blast to lead off the bottom of the ninth and send the Volunteers home winners. (hometown Tazewell TN).

From what I've seen looking over the fence, Miss state is ahead of some of the harder programs it's gotta face this season.

Texas AM appears to have no offense either. They scored less than 5 runs in two games. Arkansas doesn't have the arms and bullpen figured out yet.

LSU and TX both look solid so far.

Miss state has been snubbed from hosting regionals more than once in the last 5 years for taking early losses to mid majors programs with high RPIs. Losing one game isn't the end but dropping the series will be scrutinized later.

Good luck today vols. I hope all sec teams win until we start playing each other. That way we have all the clout and will have more regional hosts come tournament time.
