I'm sure everyone is seeing the cold front rolling in this weekend. Personally I never see deer when it gets this cold but I really need another deer. I will only get to go once this weekend.
Should I hunt the food plots Saturday evening before the front or wait until Sunday morning when cold hits?
Or should I stay in the woods closer to thick stuff. Most of our food plots are in planted pines so most have cover close by.

No idea where you should hunt without knowing the property you're hunting, but I certainly wouldn't want to be out there when it's cold. Those deer will be hunkered down in fetal position trying to stay alive. You'd have to kick them up like rabbits in order to see one move. So I'd be trying to get it done before the cold hits.

I'm thinking I'm heading to the lake on the 22nd.
Give me shout if you want to freeze your butt off... 😂

PS...weather permitting. I'm not getting on that lake in a lot of wind.

I'd be all over that (minus the frosting part lol) but I have to work. Possibly between Christmas and new year?

Either before the cold or Sunday afternoon. My thought would be after huddling up to stay warm, eventually they will need to move and that will probably come later in the day on Sunday. so midday to dark, maybe.

I'm still waiting on the email that the Rut was over reckon TWRA forgot to send 1 🤣 , it's really bitter here around 20 and a few flurries to go with the wind, if 1 runs into the yard I will stick a rifle out the door and shoot it, might flash freeze before I can skin it.

Not much action at all on my cameras this morning.

A friend is on 120a of standing beans... he has seen 1 spike so far.

Tomorrow PM should be really good

Well my hunting partner wanted to go to the Halls Christmas Parade last night to see his friends so we didn't get to go, and he has a birthday party today so going to miss this front.

A friend was driving yesterday morning in Knox cty seen 3 mature bucks in a field yesterday morning. He said all ears were back looking puffed out ready for a fight.

Was expecting yesterday to be great but it was a dud for us. Nine hunting and about that many deer seen all day. One guy went this morning, saw 3 bucks & killed one. Will give it a go after lunch.

I am sucker for punishment so I think I will go sit in a funnel this afternoon and hope for movement. It's 21 w pretty big wind now in Seq Co.

I have always had decent luck in sub freezing weather.
But at 68 years old anything below 20f accompanied by a + 5 mph wind puts me in a shooting house these days…🤷‍♂️

Good Luck too those out there this morning, it's a cool 15 f here in the hollow with a slight breeze from the North..

I didnt get a single pic on my cameras after 11pm last night, which is extremely unusual. Went to my blind that has a buddy heater this morning since I'm a wuss, and it has three separate food plots within 300 yds - only saw two toms. Thought for sure they'd be out feeding. This is only the 3rd time this season I didnt see a single deer out of probably 30-40 sits.

Wrong wind for where I want to go this afternoon, but should be right tomorrow morning. I am going to hold out for tomorrow morning.
