I'm looking into getting a good cold weather hunting coat to use in general, but especially for cold, wet boat rides while duck hunting.

I have a lighter weight breathable set of camo rain gear, and in the past I've just used that jacket as the outermost layer, but it's heavy relative to the low insulating properties.

I have about $100 that I could drop on one right now. If it's something pretty high-end, I have a birthday and Christmas coming up. Thanks for the suggestions!
 
For that money you better go Natgear. High quality, warm, and Water proof come with premium prices. Your hunting clothing is a long term investment. Good gear lasts for lots of seasons.
 
Sitka gear is really solid. Expensive for sure, and hard to find sales, but if you take care of your stuff, really worth the money in my opinion. I held out for a couple of years, but its some of the best money I've spent in a long time.

I've had Drake gear for years, and honestly believe that the early stuff was a lot higher quality than the more recent stuff.

I have it also. As far as quality apparel made to last, Drake is the last line of clothing I'd recommend. Cuffs coming unstitched, zippers falling off, Velcro coming unglued off the cuffs.........

But............the drake down coat is the warmest I have ever known. If you can get past he $h!tty quality, the coat itself is warm.

I have a Drake 4 in 1 also and would not recommend it. I keep mine as a backup or if a friend needs one. They are warm but poor quality and waterproofing. ymmv
