i have decided to put in a plot of clover

the land has not been planted

should i disc it ?

when i did plots at my house before my wifes horse took over i just used a box blade to get the dirt good and loose i planted green patch plus by a hand spreader and then drug it or drove on it with a 4 wheeler

in a dumbed down version how should i go about planting it ?

i have no green thumb

Kill all weeds, mow if necessary and if you can rough up the dirt do so. Don't disc it. Broadcast before rain and you are done. I would mix annuals with perennials.

I always till first the broadcast the larger seeds, wheat, oats..etc then cultipack then spread the small seeds, clover and pack again.

Spray now, spray again in early august, and topsow seed right ahead of a good soaking rain in late august/early september. The worst thing you can do for clover is get the seed to deep.I'd leave thatch standing until after sowing so it doesn't get between the seed and the soil.

what is a good economical atv sprayer with elec pump

where can u get the best deal on bulk generic glyphosate

all i have is about 10-15 yds wide by 200 yds

thanks for any and all advice

Sequatchie Farmers Co-Op had 2.5 gal containers of Cornerstone 41% glyphosate on sale for about $37 recently. I would check your Co-Op. A 2.5 gal container will last a while. I use it on my food plots and use it to kill poison ivy around my treestands and around camp. Make sure you use the recommended mix ratio for what you are spraying. For example, when I'm targeting poison ivy I mix it stronger than I do for killing grass in a food plot.

If you don't have a Co-Op nearby, then Tractor Supply sells a brand of 41% glyphosate (FarmWorks) at a decent price. It's 2.5 gal for $55. The most expensive places to buy glyphosate are Home Depot, Lowe's, Ace, Walmart, etc.

Let me know if you need help. I have a pull type tiller, four wheeler and sprayer. Sprayer will be full already. You provide the seed and I'll provide the equipment and help. I also have a drag with "teeth" my brother made me that can help rough up new ground. Just let me know. I am trying to pay off a debit of kindness to this site and getting to meet a world class doe killer would be a plus!

Id go with RoundUp brand. Its not but a few dollars more at $60 for 2.5. I have used cornerstone for a while till this season Co-op was out of it I bought the name brand and had a much better kill and seemed to last longer than the cornerstone. Cornerstone seemed to make some plants sick but not kill roundup laid everything down even head high Johnson grass.

well got her broke up a week or so ago\

this morning tyler and I got up early to beat the rain
we put out 200 lbs of 10-10-10 that crap was expensive at lowes

10 lbs co-op red clover
50 lbs of winter wheat
