Are you running that Ragu and balls on mashed taters ? That's thinking outside the box
yes i am. thats how my wifes grandmother did them. most excellent. its more marinara than ragu though. very simple. 3 tablespoons onion, 1 tablespoon garlic, 1/4 c evoo. saute onions 5 min then throw in garlic for 1 minute. 2-28 oz can san marzano tomatoes (from italy of course) crushed by hand into that and juice. cook 45min until reduced a bit. salt and pepper to taste and a pinchnof dried oregeno. add 6 leaves of fresh basil, torn. i fry my balls in olive oil on each side until brown then simmered covered in the sauce for a few.

here is the meatball recipe ive pretty much settled on over the years. its from raos in ny. i usually on use 80/20 beef and pork. i sont use veal. 2 pounds of meat makes a lot and i usually freeze half.

  • 1 Lb. Ground Beef
  • 1/2 Lb. Ground Veal
  • 1/2 Lb. Ground Pork
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 Cup, Freshly Grated Parmesan
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp, Chopped Parsley
  • 1/2 Small Clove, Peeled and Minced Garlic to Taste
  • Salt to Taste
  • Pepper to Taste
  • 2 Cups Breadcrumbs
  • 2 Cups Water
  • 1 Cup Olive Oil
  • 1 Clove, Lightly Smashed Garlic

  1. Combine ground beef, veal, and pork in a large bowl. Add eggs, cheese, parsley, minced garlic, and salt and pepper to taste. Using your hands, blend ingredients together.
  2. Add the bread crumbs into meat mixture and combine. Slowly add water until the mixture is quite moist.
  3. Shape the meat mixture into balls (2 1/2 to 3 inch balls).
  4. Heat the oil in a large sauté pan and saute the smashed garlic clove until lightly brown to flavor the oil, and remove with a slotted spoon and discard.
  5. Fry the meatballs in batches.
  6. When the bottom half of the meatball is very brown and slightly crisp, turn and cook the other half.
  7. Remove from heat and drain on paper towels.
  8. Lower cooked meatballs into simmering maranara and cook for 15 minutes.
  9. Serve over pasta, in a sub, or on their own.

You sure did…..running like crazy snd virtaully no carbs ….and i can lose 4 pounds per month. I was fixing to tear open a bag ot cheetos
about a pound a week is what im losing now that ive stabalized. 30 minutes of fast walking/recumbant bike 5 days a week is pretty much it. i just watch the amount of carbs i intake and total calories. but, i used to be a trained athlete but my worn out body still responds pretty well to calorie cutting. the biggest help was getting off all the cane sugar and HFCS.

good luck to you.

Losing weight slowly is a key to keeping it off. Along with the old lifestyle eating habit changes. That's the sucky part.

IM 6 FT 2 and 207 pounds, but the bmi chart says i have to get to 199 to be in the ideal range. these last last 8 pounds are gonna kill me. im going to have to stop lifting weights to get there. sad, but to hit ideal, i will have to give up muscle. i run 90 minutes a day. i cant handle any more

yeah i think the bmi chart is not really accurate for athletic folks. in my prime shape i was 237 pounds at 4% bodyfat.

If you are running 90 minutes a day and working out I'd throw that BMI chart in the garbage bro.
