Climbing Stix or Screw In Steps?

Looking for some advice here........I have several new lock on stands this year that I got for an unbelievable deal. Now, I'm trying to decide am I better off getting the Big Game 20' climbing sticks or should I just go with screw ins. I'm trying to stay within a price range, but if feedback for the climbing sticks are good, I'd just roll with those.

That's all that I use.

If I am not on the ground or in a ladder stand , then I'm using a climbing stick to get to my loc-ons.

I never liked putting holes in trees, especially trees that don't belong to me. I think that climbing sticks are much safer by design than screw in steps....

i'd go with sticks. i used to buy the 16' sticks from rural king for around 35 bucks. i seen the other day they had 20' sticks for 54 so they must have changed brands and went up on price. i probably have 4 diff sets just sitting around.

Sticks are much safer. I've had a couple screw in steps pull out, but I've never fallen from a climbing stick or ladder.

For me, since they were such a pain in the arse, once my stand was up I was really hesitant about moving it. With climbing sticks, moving is not an issue.

This is what I do. I may have a total of 5 in when I am done, and one of those is to hang my pack on.

screw in's have always worked for me. I just need to get the attachment for my drill and I'll probably like them even better. They can be a pain to get started but once started it's easy. IMO

For $24 for 3 Guide Gear sticks at Sportsman's Guide, You can run 20+ feet up for $50. They are solid. If you're gonna spend the same money, I'd go with the sticks. My thought is that I really don't want to kill any trees on my place unless they're going for timber. I hung 2 new stands with enough sticks to hit 22 feet and I think I spent a grand total of around $200. I also found in a comparison that I like Guide Gear better than Big Game.
