Just wondering those of you that clean between shots. What do you use and what is your process?

I take a patch, lightly apply some isopropyl alcohol (Windex works great) and swab the bore of the rifle. As you work the patch down the bore, work the patch in short strokes. Work from the muzzle to the breech. After the damp patch, then work two dry patches through the bore. This will remove additional fouling and also dry the bore.

Well the reason im asking is i would have a clean barrel when im hunting so im trying to see how it will do with a clean barrel

This is how I did it as well but used the BP solvent instead. I have now converted to smokeless. For BP, I wanted all of my shots to simulate a clean barrel in a hunting condition. I would also shoot some shots with a "dirty" barrel afterwards just to see if there was an effect if I had a follow up shot while hunting.

I chew on a patch and swab the barrel between shots, up to 3 maybe 4 shots, then I actually clean it. 
1 part NAPA soluable oil and 7 parts water makes a great wiping solution

I don't like to swab between shots.You won't be swabbing between shots in the field while hunting..
The solution for all this for me was Blackhorn 209...No swabbing necessary

I put some bp solvent on a patch after about every 5th shot .if i'm shooting patched balls, i just put a patch in my mouth and then load it down the barrell. It keeps the fouling pretty soft.
I won't be shooting a dirty barrel in the field either. My first shot has always been from a clean barrel and the one I most worried about when I shot blackpowder. My encore shot basically the same with a clean and dirty barrel so I didn't really have to worry. If my barrel had to be fouled to shoot good, it would find a new home.cecil30-30 said:

never seen the point in it
you cant shoot 3 deer back to back to back swabbing in the field

so when you shoot a doe and a 150 class buck rolls out either you will swab or hope the poi is good as you always shoot with a swabbed barrel
i want my ml to shoot a good group from a clean bbl on fist shot and at least 2 more dirty shot so i have peace of mind
I don't swab in the field. I line it up with a clean barrel. I then check zero with a dirty barrel to make sure it's not different.

I use presoaked patches every other shot when checking accuracy. When ur hunting u r not going to have time to swab the barrel in between sots.

Ihave shot three does at one hunt from the time the first fell to the last was less then 5 min swabbed between shots made perfect shots. dont ever leave my meals to chance. just a simple spit patch run down the barrel assures perfect groups to kill with.

That's why I added "unless it's a quick as possible follow-up shot"
My ML does shoot good out to 3-4 shots before cleaning, but it also shoots after swabbing down, and w/o the crud ring to crunch thru to seat the bullet. Remember, I still shoot Pyro.Wobblyshot1

For what it's worth....I shoot a patched round ball and there's no need to wipe between shots.
