Got out yesterday for a couple hours. Dug a few fired Civil War minie balls. This is from a spot in Cleveland, TN that will be a subdivision in the next couple years. I hate modern development.

Awesome, I got out yesterday myself..didn't have a whole lot of luck but it was still fun..
If they ever redo the parking lot here at work I'll give you a holler. It would probably be great seeing how I'm at the foot of lookout mountain under point park area.

Every time I'm driving on Medical Center Blvd around The Avenue complex in Murfreesboro, I think about what might be buried under all those buildings and parking lots.

None of those. Dug in Civil War camps always had a discharge or practice area for rifles. This is one of those places. Thousands of bullets.
I'm more into fishing and hunting for rings and such now. Occasionally I get the wild hair to go look for Civil War stuff though. Not many places left. Cleveland has exploded in development.Nice haul Daniel. I was wondering the other day if you were still digging. This answered that question.
I need to get my oldest boy into digging. He's a nut for any war or military and he just went to the Civil War show down in Dalton Georgia last weekend and had a good time.

I had a good friend, now deceased, who was metal detecting back in the glory days before urban sprawl infested Rutherford and surrounding counties. He had an amazing amount of dug CW artifacts. One of his best hauls was when he was hunting with a fellow detector friend. They recovered around 400 pounds of melted lead and minie balls in one big dig. They were hunting in an area where old Joe Wheeler had captured a big Yankee wagon train, killing the mules and burning the wagons.
