City Limits question

I've been bow hunting, pretty unsuccessfully, a small patch of public woodland near Estill Springs/Decherd.
I was told by a good friend that it's within the city limits, so no firearms allowed, I'm led to believe.
However.....there are no city limits signs around the area. It's around 3 miles from the town & nowhere near any dwellings.
How am I supposed to KNOW whether or not it is within city limits or not?

Reason I ask is that it's probably the perfect place to hunt with my longrifle. I can sit in the center of the woodlot & see the entire wood, 100yds to the farthest edge, 50yds to the nearest.

If I were to be stopped by a Game Warden (HIGHLY unlikely) would I have any defense in the area not being signed as part of the city?

GW probably wouldn't be the one to get you for shooting a firearm in city limits, it would more likely be the city police due to a complaint phone call

A state A.G.'s opinion is that state hunting law trumps city ordinance so you could discharge a firearm for hunting purposes inside city limits.

It looks like Google Maps will show you the boundaries of city limits (dashed lines):

Now find your property you are hunting and see if it's in city limits or not.

Catman, you're a legend, THANK YOU!!! Looking at the Estill map, the land isn't within the city anyway! :D

I never actually knew the dotted line was the City Limit line. Good to know!

No problem... The line for my city (franklin) is a little off in some places on google maps, but not by much. Long as your place is well outside of the dotted line you should be all right and I wouldn't hesitate to take the rifle out and blast some holes in a few deer.
