Depends on the species. All otters are supposed to be tagged. Fur buyers won't take one untagged and neither will most tanneries even if it's for personal use.

May be different in TN than KY. But I have to have a CITES tag to send to the tannery with a bobcat.

That's pretty much any tannery. They don't want to give the feds any possible reason to investigate so it's easier to just require every cat to be tagged

I doubt you're the first to tag something under landowner exemption or road killed.

The answer you are looking for is no license number for the cites tag but if you go through a taxidermist his or her records require it. At least who i send stuff to the tannery through does.

Im just telling him what a taxidermist that i trust told me so i go along with what he tells me and dont question it. He sends a lot of stuff for me and several others that trap and we have never had a problem. He may be a little OCD though
