Depends on the species. All otters are supposed to be tagged. Fur buyers won't take one untagged and neither will most tanneries even if it's for personal use.The only time a cites tag is required is when the pelt is going to exported out of the country. So no…

May be different in TN than KY. But I have to have a CITES tag to send to the tannery with a bobcat.I was just assuming he's referring to bobcatsbut yes, you are correct with the aquatic fur bearing demons from Hell.
That's pretty much any tannery. They don't want to give the feds any possible reason to investigate so it's easier to just require every cat to be taggedMay be different in TN than KY. But I have to have a CITES tag to send to the tannery with a bobcat.

I doubt you're the first to tag something under landowner exemption or road killed.I know that they have to have cites tags, I was wondering if the cites tags required a license number since they will be killed on private land under the landowner exemption, so I dont have a license.
I would say you are correct.I doubt you're the first to tag something under landowner exemption or road killed.
No problemI would say you are correct.
jman 125 thank you for clearing that up
I have one bobcat mounted and another one tanned. Neither were tagged. The answer you are looking for is no license number for the cites tag but if you go through a taxidermist his or her records require it. At least who i send stuff to the tannery through does.
Im just telling him what a taxidermist that i trust told me so i go along with what he tells me and dont question it. He sends a lot of stuff for me and several others that trap and we have never had a problem. He may be a little OCD thoughI have one bobcat mounted and another one tanned. Neither were tagged.
