DA or anyone else that has a chronograph, what make, model, etc do you have?

Likes/dislikes or if you were to purchase a new one what would you do, extra features you like ......................

I am getting ready to make the plunge and would like your opinions please.

I've had my basic Shooting Chrony F1 for over 20 years and it still works fine. Still under $100 for a new one too. It doesn't record history data but I don't find it a big inconvenience to take a pad and pen to write down the speed after every shot. All I need or want for what I do at the range.
 
I have a Oehler 33. They do not make these anymore.
It does eveything I need one to do. It is a little harder to set up, but gives very accurate information.

I also use a program, Load from a disk. With the info from the Oehler input into the program, you can findout most any info you want.

If you could find a Oheler 35, I would highly recommend it.
 
I have had 4 Shooting Chronies and never had a problem with either ,,shot one of them with an oehler and they read the same,,,only bad thing is they are not bullet proof,,

I learned more and it helped me produce better loads than any tool I ever used,,
 
I have a Shooting Chrony. I like it a lot. One thing I don't like about it is the battery runs down very fast. After each shot I have to turn it off and then back on again so the battery will last the whole range session. Thank goodness it doesn't have to warm up each time you turn it on.
 
Don't even remember what brand mine is... the faceplate came off after a few rounds of the braked 300 RUM :)

IIRC, I spent around $100 for it and it has been wonderful!!! Probably the most useful info you will get is your extreme velocity spread to know just how consistant your handloads are.

I've got the Pro Chrono. The face came loose several times from muzzle blast until I epoxied it in position. I've had no complaints with it's performance though. The only thing I wish is that I'd bought a model with the remote reading and controls that has a wire back to the shooting bench. It's a pain when several people are at the range to get out to the chrono to change strings.
 
Have access to my Uncle's Pact Model 1.

The only thing I don't like about it is it has no printer and that isn't a biggie.We just make a note of the load or loads being checked before moveing to the next one.

It would be nice if it had longer cables from the sky screens to the unit,but that hasn't been a problem yet,just a minor inconvenience.

Other than the above were satisfied with it.

I haven't used mine with my ML yet because I fear the sabot and BP crud coming out the muzzle will mess up the plate. How do you handle that? I suppose I could put some kind of plexiglass cover over it. (Mine's a Chrony F1, and I also once had the batteries die during a session, after about 30 or 40 shots. I was testing several loads in two different guns.)
 
ML readings are sometimes erratic with mine, probably due to all the unburned powder/ smoke/ sabot passing through the sensors with the bullet.

My faceplate is covered with ML residue

But it's set up only 3 feet from the end of the barrel (that's as far away as I can get it from the bench I shoot from)
 
I am leaning towards the a Chrony Alpha Master with remote or an F1. I can add a printer to either one for an additional $85.00.

I don't really think the printer is all that necessary.

My crony is at least 10 feet and most of the time 15 feet out.
Much closer the gase blast will screw up the readings. My screans are set 4 ft apart also.

Agree it ain't necessary just nice to have one as you don't have to write everything down.But for 85 bucks I will take the time for pen an pad.
