Christmas Morning Casserole


Ingredients:

6 slices of white bread
2 (12oz) packages of pork breakfast sausage (cook, crumble & drain)
1 � cup ea. Monterey Jack & Cheddar cheese (grated & mixed)
10 eggs
2 cups milk
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
2 tsp. Dijon style mustard
� tsp. Salt
1 sm. Onion (chopped)
1 sm. can of mushrooms
� green & red pepper (diced)


Prep:

Arrange the bread slices in a buttered 9x13 pan, Mix the sausage, onion, diced peppers and mushrooms together and spread evenly over the bread.

Cover with grated cheese

In a large bowl, mix the eggs, milk, mustard, Worcestershire sauce and salt then pour over the entire contents of the pan.

Cover and refrigerate overnight.

In the morning, uncover and bake at 325* @ 50 mins (check center to ensure fully cooked, ovens vary) Let sit to cool slightly, cut and serve.

Makes @ 12 servings.

The original recipe did not have the bell peppers in it, I added them for the flavor and a little Christmas color.

It is like an omelette cake................My family looks forward to it every yr.

I made one of these a couple of weeks ago. I omitted the onions, peppers and mushrooms, and used spicy sausage. Turned out really good.

It is not just a Christmas thing, it can be made anytime. The easy of making it and cooking on such an all ready hectic morning makes it perfect for the day.
