My way of getting back at the crap y'all pass off as pizza down here
🤣
Now I can get down on some Giordano's. Used to be one across from my old office near Korean Vets. Not sure if it's still there. Ordering online flash frozen isn't advised. Lifelong Cub fan so I ordered some during the World Series a few years back. I was very disappointed.

I'm so sorry you've traveled this road. I was born on the NW side. It is a curse and plague, once they get their cultural hooks into you.

Malnati's does this frozen thing too-it all sucks. Make your own-seriously!

Is the UC, "United Center?" Another Wirtzian plague. Also afflicted.

One of the best things I did as a kid, was leave. "Mom, Dad, sign the papers, or I'll forge them." Uncle Sugar was likely the best for me. Only second to finding my faith again.

The best stuff was neighborhood family joints. Crazy good. Folks used to remember where they came from. Everyone knew someone-somehow.

BTW: "Homo donuts is hysterical!" 😆

I laughed earlier at "scones...." 😁

Edit: I actually found a small Uno's pizza frozen in a town of 1000 near me. It sucked, but better than NO pizza if you don't have the time. Just an opinion.

We used to go to a place that the drunker the pizza guy was, the better the pizza. 👍

Even for family joints-that is all, prepped. There is no bad pizza, only better. Seriously.

I posted something about Kronos gyros not long ago. Their frozen stuff in small boxes is pretty darn good. YEAH, not the spit, but if you briefly heat it in nuke, cast iron it, crisps like it was on a spit. (I also had to learn to make pita bread-it is NOT common where I am).

I have served this to friends and family and they are amazed at how close it is. I keep a BUNCH on hand. (Home made tzatziki is needed).

On the corner, near my house where I was born, a couple of young Greek brothers took over an Italian place. They knew I was military and traveled and asked my opinion on "doner kabobs" vs. city gyros. HUGELY embarrassed, I said, I like this better than Europe. (Kinda large, pork and lamb and onions on a stake)..... They laughed and said they do too! LOL. They were born in Greece....

This is the "weird thing that happens when you are born in a city of folks who innovate". Food is one of the VERY few things you cannot recreate without a background.

My lady-friend is in Knoxville, she is a city slicker, and makes good money.

The pizza thread I did... she said she'd quit her job to just run my pizza place in Knoxville. (Understand that is a very small brag, not for bragging) but, it is true from my time there. MANY places there claim their backgrounds, but, they are NOT good at it. Seriously lame IMO, and it is a CITY! Too big for me by far.

EDIT: Just realized I am moving the "homo donuts" to something else. Apologies and I'll stop here. 😜 Sorry @Chiflyguy

I was visiting my cousin in Lexington Park, MD back in '83 and walked into a Greek place wearing my Corfu t-shirt. Guess who was from Corfu - and who ate for free...

(All you squids should know what's at Lexington Park...)
