Chickory over seed?

Hey guys quick question. I planted clover 2-3 weeks ago and ofcourse without the rain it has not poked up yet. My question is can I top seed with chickory? Will the chickory germinate being top sewn?

I have had good success with top sowing into loose soil before a rain. Of course I seed heavily though when top sowing, I wouldnt want to broadcast it on hard pack soil thats for sure.

Thanks! I have a fresh seed bed that I planted clover into a couple of weeks ago so that part is good to go.

Id say you will be just fine then. I did it and it worked/is working anyway. Soil was still loose because we obviously havent had enough rain to pack it down much. Just remember to use alittle more than you normally would and wait til you know we are getting a good rain if we ever even do lol

Isnt that the truth! how much did you sow? /acre... i have a spot about 1/4 acre or a hair less.

Recommended rate is 5 pounds per acre, its awfully difficult to spread that little of seed on an acre though. I planted it at 15 pounds per acre, its coming up thick.

That sounds good, i have heard good things from the stuff! I might give it a try....

Put some sand in you spreader and mix the seed in with it. It makes it easier to spread a small seed at the proper rate.

Good tip! I was wondering how to get a good spread with the small seed.
