If a fella was to fish that lake, say this Sunday and he has never been on that water before. Where would some of you Chickamauga veterans suggest I put in and what area of the lake to fish for Bass.

Oh, RSimms saw this post. However, while he would be more than happy to help you out, RSimms is not a "traditional" bass angler.
Therefore he can only speak in generalities. He can't tell you much specific about what the hardcore bass folks are doing up on the lake.
IN GENERAL, folks are going to hit shallow structure or flats early and late... spinner baits, plastics and rat-l-trap style baits. After the morning bite they're going to back off and fish river channel drops with deep-running cranks, jigs, plastics, spoons or the famous Tennessee Rig.
I have a personal preference for the lower end of the lake, emphasis on "personal" preference just because that's where I've spent more time. Launch at Chickamauga Marina just above the Dam or Wolftever Creek which is on Hwy. 58 eight miles north of Hwy. 153.
That's a general overview, which I know doesn't help a whole lot.

It is suppose to rain on Sunday. Not a bad thing. It will cut the pleasure boaters down to nothing. If you put in at Wolftever go under the bridge out into Harrison Bay turn left. There are some decent humps about 100 yards out from the bank. They run almost parallel to 58 highway. It is worth trying. I caught a bunch with shaky head trick worms in pumpkinseed and watermelon. They are finicky. Throw out the lure. Let it sink. twitch it 3 to 4 time. reel down to almost 3 oclock. Then raise the rod tip up to move the lure. don't move it far. maybe a foot or two. twitch and let it set for about 30 seconds. reel down to move again. They generally hit on the second move.

We did well, fished off channel in shallow to deep cuts in the morning and boated several quality fish. I lost one fish that would have gone close to 10lbs, my fault bad hook set on my baitcaster...had the drag set to light! I am going to have nightmares about that for a long time. We used Rattle Traps, Zara Spooks, Spinner Baits, Gitzits, Spring Lizards, worms in Texas and Carolina rigs, regular and shakey head. THe only thing I did not get a bite on was my jigs. When the sun did finally show up the action went from fishing off the banks and structure to moving out and fishing the humps, and it changed fast! All in all a pretty good day on the water with close to 20 bass caught and released from the buck bass to 4 lbs. One smallie that had eyes for a rattletrap almost as big as he was.

It sounds like you really mixed it up... which from what I hear is wise these days. Of course my idea of "mixing it up" is switching from a store-bought shiner to castnet-caught threadfin shad. :grin:

We set out with the mixing it up as our master plan. Catch a fish, maybe two and switch lures. I did find that it took several casts into the same spot to get a bite after about 8:00 am.
