Chester co.--Eagle Bean Plot

I got out to Chester co. today and got to meet a TNDeer Member, TNDroptine. He has a great tract of land, and he told me that a lot of deer crossed it. After spending some time there today, I agree, deer tracks and sign covered these fields.

We are going to plant 4 acres of Eagle Big Fellow Beans. Today I sprayed it with Gly and took some soil samples. It was a little bit windy but we got it sprayed. On my way in, I went right by the Mid South Coop Fert. Division, so I dropped the soil samples off! As soon as we get results, I will head back and start working some ground.

This is my first experience with the Eagles, and Im looking foward to seeing what they do with all these deer munching on them!

Oh yeah, I totally forgot to take pictures, which is not like me, I will make up for it next time!

I ordered mine directly from Eagle. But I know that the Co op in Rutherford county is a dealer also so you might check your local one.

Holy cow! Who knew it would rain this much so that it would be a month before it has been dry enough to plant!

I'm sitting in a hotel room in Parsons TN ready to hit it in the morning. They are saying thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon so its going to be a race!

I've got my game plan, going to deep chisel the four acres then spread the fertilizer and disc it in and the hook up the ole two row planter and get em planted! You know how plans go? Ha ha maybe this one will work!

The Deerfield Inn was great, clean, and had a great name! Very fitting for the mission!

Well Im happy to say that the mission is complete. Boy, it was a long day. Let me make a suggestion, dont ever plan to drive 40 miles, unload a trailer load of equipment, sit on a tractor, discing, spreading fertilizer, and planting for 10 hours, then spending an hour trying to get a broken chisel plow back on the trailer and everything else loaded and chained down then drive 3 and half hours home, only to have to get up at 6am to have my daughter at a dance competition at 7:15am. Next time I mention doing that, someone stop me, please!!

All kidding aside, the day went great, besides breaking the the hitch on my little chisel plow about 15 minutes after I started.

I was pretty surprized That the weeds werent too high considering it has been over 40 days since it was sprayed! Must have really been dead about 2 or 3 weeks ago!

Looks like a Rat Snake to me - they are harmless, the only ones I dont care for are the copperheads and the rattlesnakes

I ordered it from Eagle when I bought the beans. You could probably use that DeltAG seed coat.

Must be a lot of rats and mice to eat as he was thick around the middle!
