How does that work? My 12 year old brother is coming hunting with me this weekend and he is from out of state. All he has is his orange card. I know I will have to take him to a TWRA check in station but how will they fill out that tag?

He would need his SSN to check the deer in if he is not already on the REAL system. I'm not sure what you are referring to as an orange card unless its a hunter safety card.

I was told that as long as he had his orange card (hunter saftey card) he could kill a buck. What I'm getting at is that I'm confused as to the check in process. Can't get is social security number so I know he can't kill a doe. Heck he doesn't want to kill a doe lol

He will have to have his social security number to check in any deer unless he is already in TN's license system. You will have to go to a checking station, and the social security number is required to set him up a profile on that check in.

He will not be able to check one in without the SS#.

Not complaining but the folks at the office need to be more clear because that is what she told me. I explained he was a non resident. Glad I double checked!

It doesn't matter if it is resident or nonresident, the check in procedure is the same. All require a TWRA profile or a social security number to create one.
