Check your Hornady GMX before you load them!

I was at Academy in Franklin and picked up a couple boxes of the Hornady .270 130gr GMX bullets to try out. I started loading them and felt my finger touch something rough on one of the bullets(turns out several was this way). It looks like the machine making the rings around the bullet just cut short and left the copper bunched up on it. I tried getting it off with my thumbnail but there is no way. The only way to get it off is hit it with a file and then the bullet still isn't right. I'm not sure what would happen if one got by and you actually got it loaded and shot it like that and I'm not going to find out! I have already emailed Hornady and sent them pics, just waiting on a reply now. So if you happen to have some give each one of them a good looking over before you load it.

After sending Hornady the pics and talking to them on the phone I received a padded envelope from them today. They never asked me how many I had that were defective. All they asked was for the caliber, type, weight and lot number. Can you guess what was in the envelope? There was 6 bullets taped to the inside! HAHA

6 bullets, that's pretty lame! I have just about quit shooting Hornady bullets other than using to maybe to get a scope on paper or to fire form some brass.

It was just a padded envelope with 6 bullets taped to the inside. No invoice type paper or anything.

I'm not sure how many total I'm going have like that. I have another box with the same lot # that I haven't opened yet. The ones answering the phones at Hornady was friendly enough but they acted like they wasn't concerned or maybe its a normal thing for this type bullet. Either way when these are gone I will go to another company for my bullets.
