Chasing already?

Been watching this small 8pt running this doe for the last three days in my backyard. I just witnessed it in the woods. Seems early, no?

I think depending on where you are (you don't have it listed) they chase from Oct - Mar. I know in Rutherford county, we start seeing chasing in Oct. and i will see bucks chasing in Feb sometimes early March.

My best bow kill buck was on October 10 back in the 90's and he was no doubt about it in full rut.

Every year about early to mid October I will see some younger bucks chasing. Myself and other folks around here call it the false rut. I have never seen older mature bucks doing it. Does are obviously not in estrus yet and it usually dies out pretty quickly.

Tuesday night I saw 2 bucks and 3 does feeding in the same field, no signs of chasing yet in Rutherford.

Agree. I think we're about 4 weeks away from pre-rut activity.

Can't say 100% it wasn't a rut chase. I feel safe in saying 99% sure it wasn't. Bucks coming out of velvet have a testosterone rush.

Bachelor groups will be right'chummy and even grooming each other for at least another 3 weeks in my neighborhood..paying absolutely no attention to does. 5-10 days into November the dynamic starts to change and by Thanksgiving they wanna kill each other.

1st full week of December, hunt all day every day. Wide open.

The buck I killed in full rut this time of the year was a 135" 10 pointer that field dressed 180 lbs. He was as nasty as any buck I have ever seen in November.
