Really? Have you read when muzzleloader season opens? They didn't change anything! It is simply the way the calendar fell.

There has been no loss of muzzleloader hunting time. It falls later this year due to it being a late Thanksgiving.

It might help to check on the facts before starting petitions.

I am a very happy M.L. hunter. The way it was we had to wait and only got a week.Pretty much always missed the Peak Rut. The way it is now with a permanently set time for it to open and 2 weeks is much better. Very seriously doubt you have thought this out. Ask a Moderator nicely and maybe they'll delete the Thread.

We are at the mercy of the calendar. MZ always opens two weeks before gun. Gun always opens the Saturday before Thanksgiving. With Thanksgiving always being the 4th Thursday of November, on those years when the 1st of November falls on a Friday or Saturday, we get these late gun openers, hence late MZ openers.

Personally, I would like to see MZ open Nov. 1 every year, but that's just me.

I believe the juveniles should get the first weekend of November no matter what. Who cares about what when muzzleloader. The muzzleloader/gun season is already plenty long enough.

I couldn't agree more!!! What Einstein made the decision to change the Juvenile to (many times) Halloween wknd, is off his rocker! The kids got the shaft by moving their wknd up a week for more reasons than one imo.I hunt with every legal weapon in every season we have, and giving the kids a wknd in November was just fine with me, should have never been taken away from them!

TnKen - modify the petition as follows and I'll sign:

- Traditional muzzleloaders only during muzzleloader season (flintlock or caplock).

Also, please sneak these two amendments into the petition - kind of how Congress likes to sneak pet spending projects into larger bills with the hope that nobody will notice.

1. Reinstate the two weeks of archery only in Dec.

2. Statewide buck limit is 2.

We should all consider ourselves blessed to have so much time to hunt regarless of when the seasons fall. Most states have no where near the weeks of Deer Hunting we have.

Nothing would change my opinion of bow season! I've shot crossbows. I'm unimpressed. I was more accurate with a vertical bow, especially at longer distances. At least, at a target!
