I've got a blend of seeds in the ground with some brassicas and wheat oats and rye will the cereal grains continue growing after a frost and of course, if we get some rain, lol
 
I sprinkle rye & wheat all fall and winter long because it grows anytime temps are above freezing and sun shines. Not a glamor plot by any stretch but it's reliable green food when everything else is brown. Then in spring it really explodes to give the pregnant girls an early head start as well as excellent cover for ground nesting birds.

Turkey go crazy over my wheat plots in spring, once they start producing seed heads.
