I saw another thread that got me thinking....

I called TDOS last week and they said that I had been approved for my carry permit and they were shipping it out. So I should be getting my permit in the mail any day now.

I want to get an ankle holster, but I have been unsuccessful in finding one in the Nashville area that will fit my carry gun. It is a XD Sub-Compact 9mm.

(I know, I know, it is kinda bulky for it to be on my ankle, but I have had one on before and it was quite comfortable, suprisingly)

Anyone know where I can find one? Or at least a place that has a good variety? If I cant find one soon, I may be looking into a shoulder holster.

Thanks for any info

One of my old marine buds is an FBI agent and he carries a Glock 26 in one of those Galco ankle gloves every day. He usually wears jeans on duty and it's never been noticed that he's aware of. I've tried one with my Kahr and it works OK, but I just like it in my waist holster better.

Those Galco ankle gloves look pretty good. I am very picky though :) and am worried if I order one off the internet without "introducing" him to "my friend", it might not fit in it comfortably. I may have to do that though. Not a big deal. I just didnt know if there were any around the area.

Thanks guys!

I cant wait till that permit gets here!

the problem with an ankle holster is that if you get in a real fight, i.e. jumped from behind, hit first, and the fight goes to the ground, than good luck getting to your ankle. I am an LEO and carry my backup inside my shirt on my vest. The ankle works great "IF" you can get to it. However that means you fall to your back, or time stands still so you can bend down and get "yo gat". Do yourself a favor and get an inside-the-waistband holster with snap loops, not a hook to put under your belt. The loops that go around the belt are more secure.

I was thinking about one of the inside-the-waistband (IWB) holsters, but to me, it seems as though that would be quite uncomfortable, so I cancelled that idea out. Is it tolerable? If so, I'll take yalls word for it. I need something like that to wear during the upcoming warmer summer months when I will be wearing shorts more often. I have seen these in abundant numbers, so they would probably be a little easier to find.

I carry my 38 in a Desantis Speed Scabbard, which is an ouside the pants high ride holster. It can be easily coverd by an untucked Tshirt, and is easy to get to, plus you dont have to go out and buy pants that are bigger in the waste to accomidate an inside the pants holster. Whatever you get, do your self a favor and get a nice leather holster, it will hold up longer and is more comfortable.

Yeah, I have never had a leather one, but heard once the leather ones form to your pistol, they are very nice. Though pretty expensive from what I saw. Might just have to do it though.
