Anyone planning on hunting the Catoosa open hunt this weekend? I've never hunted Catoosa before nor have I stepped foot on the place with the purpose of hunting, so guess I'm going in double blind! I realize very very few deer get killed on this open hunt, but since I'm tagged out on my statewide buck limit, its my only choice if I want to hunt. Which is better than not hunting. So I guess I'm going to go in on the Bicolor side and just drive down the road and find a spot that looks decent and walk straight back in the woods as far as I can and climb a tree, and try to stay away from the fields. But if someone from here is going, someone might could show me a decent spot worth hunting.... Wink Wink ;) If you catch my drift. LOL

Cecil, I can't give you any specific spot but I can tell you where we saw most sign and deer during MZ hunt on genesis end. Deep hollows on the back end of clearcuts, rough to get to but productive.

Yes, saw some smaller ones come to field last 15 mins of light, we were there monday thru Sunday. Saw some big ones in long deep hollows between clear cuts. Never got good shot during hunt.

Carlos, we love hunting Catoosa as well but it is a hard place to hunt. We have hunted at least 2 times per yr for the last 15yrs. We discover new things and new areas every yr.

Glad I read this thread I had no idea Catoosa had a non quota hunt this weekend. I love hunting Catoosa I'll be there Saturday for sure. Nothing like a rainy day at Catoosa.

Hey cecil call me or text me.I can tell you a few areas if you want me to.Like you said it's going to be hard to kill a buck on this hunt but atleast you might learn the area a little.

I went in saturday ay 11am, walked around found some sign and climbed a tree and sat till dark. didnt see a deer or anyone. it was quiet. that was the first time i had ever set foot on the place with deer hunting in mind.
