I would stay away from the fields. Hunt the laurel thickets along the creek. By that hunt the deer have already been hunted quite a bit. I know some people dog catoosa and say there are no deer there. But their experience is coming from going inn the quota hunts where a ton of hunters rush in at once for three days... of course the deer hide then. The big bucks are there. Just find the thick cover along the creeks
 
Hunt the hunters. I don't mean that in a literal sense. I use to hunt Catoosa, in fact one of my biggest deer came from that area. I used to go and see where people were scouting and then find a back door. It worked for me. My biggest deer was a 185 lb (field dressed) nine pointer.

I like what 348 said. I've had good success along those cliff lines where you have a funnel comming up out of a creek or river bottom, some of the 5 to 7 year old cut overs that are next to a stand of hardwoods can work for you too!
 
people either love or hate catoosa, i personally love it. have i killed big deer, nope, been with 2 people who have. that being said, i love the camping and roaming that catoosa allows. i like the grown up cut fields myself, the ones way in the back

I normally just buy a new one if we need it when we get to Catoosa for a hunt. Carlos is right, have it laminated if you don't want to buy a new one every couple of yrs.
