Shot this buck on Saturday in the genisis side. Two bucks in 2 years in a row out of the same spot. Think I'll be hunting there next year as well!! Had a great time hunting and camping with some buds!

They aged this buck at the checking station at 3.5 and he weighed 154 lbs. field dressed. I've been hunting catoosa for 12 years now and have never seen it that deserted at the campground.

Only 28 bucks checked in. Rifle hunt had 111.

I'll probably head out and hunt a day or two for the open hunt. There are some areas I want to checkout. It's been years since I've hunted there and I'm thinking about putting in for it next year. My mytopo map for bi-color just showed up yesterday.

Congrats! I'm gonna try to come up for the open hunt since I'm tagged out statewide. I'm not sure where I'm going but coming up to scout one day this week.

Yeah I know it was slow. Traditionally we draw the rifle hunt but couldn't this year due to schedule conflicts. I prefer the rifle hunt actually. However, I will say that the muzzleloader hunt is not as crowded and spots are more selective! It seems the rut was a little late this year. Saw small bucks chasing does.

Has that buck got 4 points on one side?

Yeah has A kicker at the base of the horns that was right at an inch. G2 on left side was broken in half and brow tines were broken in half. He had been fighting pretty dang hard.

Cant believe only 28 bucks for the whole hunt. The campground on the genesis side was dead. We camp close to the checking station and it was slow on seeing bucks come in. Saw no hogs. We did see some big daddies checked in however. Wednesday was one rainy scouting day.

2014's muzzleloader hunt only had 16 bucks checked in, rifle hunt 85, and open hunt 9. It looks like the rifle hunt has the most checked in, but I often wonder if it's primarily because more people show up for it and as the seasons get later, less and less hunters show up. I hardly ever see anyone on the open hunt.
