Catfishing at night?

My theory is... if you get a chance to go fishing..GO! I have caught catfish when it was 20 degrees outside.. they eat year round.. day and night..

I have yet to catch a catfish in the dead of winter... I think I should take pressfit's advice and just go. Had enough creek fishing for shiners and creek chubs :D they may bite more now, but I want me a channel cat.

I have not fished in TN for them but in SC I fished year round for them. At night I always fished shallow for them even in the winter. They came up in the shallows following shad. Sounds funny but my most productive space for years was in 3-4 foot of water where the river dumped into the lake. The area was full of fresh water mussels. We have had nights of 5oolbs off that hump. A 40 or 50 pound blue cat coming out the water on a hook set will get your blood flowing fast.

Good luck.

I generally chase cats between 40 and 60 full days over the year. Day or night doesn't seem to make much difference on the TN River. It depends more on how much water is being discharged.
