Was fishing a large bay on the Duck river last Wed. night for rockfish. The bite was slow. Further back in the bay we kept hearing lots of surface activity, so we headed back to where the action was. We threw lots of diff. baits with no hits. Curiosity was killing me so I turned on the spotlight and there were catfish everywhere. Had to be hundreds of them swimming the surface. They were feeding on mayflies that were laying thick on the water. This was the latest mayfly hatch I have seen in years. I have witnessed catfish feeding like this once before while bowfishing in Roans Creek on KY Lake several years ago. It was cool watching all those big catfish swimming on the surface. Some of the catfish were BIG!
