Catfish Bait????

I always used chicken liver, but been thinking about trying some Berkley Powerbait 6oz catfish bait blood. Have anybody tried it and does it work?? I have tried to use bait dip, sure stink but dint have any luck yet. I also thought about the shad that you can buy at walmart. Any ideals on good bait will be great?? Thanks.

Leave the shad that you buy at Wal-Mart on the rack where they hang. You should give prepared baits another try. I like Sonny's, Team Catfish, or CJ's.

Depends on the season.I like cut shad or skipjack from Feb to April.Shad guts in may when they are spawing in the rocks.When the water heats up in June and July its Turkey Liver and Hot Dogs.

Agree. I wear them out since Simms told his secret on here. And plain out of the package works for me, bigger the chunk bigger the fish.

Straight out of the pack and put on thin wire 1/0 or 2/0 hook on 50lb test mono below a 6" piece of "swim noodle". Line was about 4-6 feet long and dropped in 6-10 feet of water. Chicken cut in pieces nickel to quarter size.

We used fresh cut shad this morning and landed 21 catfish.

Shad are very hard to beat. I think there is a place in Carthage that sales cut shad and small whole shad. Frozen I guess.

An old friend of mine uses Sonny's. I consider him a great catfisherman (if that's a word) He fishes rivers.
