cast boolits day #2

I am finally getting some results that I am more comfortable with, I made a call to Buffalo Arms today, they said that this mold is real difficult to get a good boolit until one gets the hang of it, the guy that made the mold was not a work today, he is going to give me a call on Monday, hopefully he can speed up the process, I have no idea of how many boolits I put back in the pot

Lookin good, much better fill on the lube grooves. Ladel pouring or using a bottom pour pot? What are the plans for lubing?

my brother is good at it,,he dont get online though..

he even does the gas check stuff for 357 and 45 rounds that are run real fast..

he has a 375 H&H that he casts for too,,

he pours a nice 30 cal for subsonic 308`s..

I have seen him put some in the oven and harden them too..but I have no knowledge of how he does it..

I am ladel pouring, I wanted to go with the bottom pour pot but the guys out west said that ladel was better, those bullets represent about 100 casts today, I finally called Buffalo Arms and they stated that their molds are difficult to get the hang of, which is just my luck being a rookie

boolits will be run through a lubri-sizer and lubed with SPG lube

Dang, ya went with the easy way out on lubing...using the pan method on my 44's.

Different boolit styles dont require a specific way of pouring, but some work better with a ladle or a bottom pour...and then beyond that, some fill better with the lead dropped straight through the sprue whereas others, a bit of angle on the mold will cause the lead to "swirl" and fill better.

Comes down to finding what temp to cast, how fast to cast and what style of pouring. Once you get it, they start dropping purty as all get out.
