So I'm finally starting to consider my next carry piece. It won't be a shrouded revolver likemy last 642 for personal reasons. So, I'm set on a small 40 cal semi auto bc that's what my p226 is and I plan on reloading. Additionally I like the punch of the round. If you had a choice in these parameters for a daily carry/truck piece what would it be?

kimber ultra carry goes everywhere i do. i love the EMP too. i have the predecessor of the EMP in .45. it gets carried on occasion.
 
The first sidearm I carried was a Stainless Kimber Pro Carry. Great little piece and very easy to conceal. But after a while it became a hassle trying to manage the weight.
The second sidearm I started to carry was a Para Ordnance Warthog in .45. WAY easier than the Kimber to conceal and the weight was almost like not carrying anything. But the 3" barrel made it VERY unmanageable to shoot accurately more than 10 feet. So, finally I picked up a Sig P226 in .40 cal and have been carrying that since. It's a little bigger than the Kimber, but more comfortable and you get more bullets.
 
Personally.. I would consider a G27 or G23. I love them both, and the G27 is next on my handgun purchase list. I don't dislike other manufacturers, I'm just extremely partial to Glock.

I haven't found a big difference in the ability to conceal the 23 or 27 (I have the 26 - same size as 27). If I was only going to have one, it'd be the 23 - more fun to shoot and easier to hold, as well as higher magazine capacity.

I have the p226 and IMO for what I do, it is way too big for effective concealing anytime other than running errands in the winter.
 
Kahr P40, The PM model just feels to small in my hand.

I've carried a Kahr P9 in an Alessi holster for 10+ years. Wouldn't even think of getting a different carry combo.

You are absolutely correct. I like to take my gun off when I am sitting in a vehicle. My Alessi allows me to take it off or put it back on in about five seconds.
 
Have to vote for the Glock 27 too. Had a Gen 3 for years and traded it in on a Gen 4 a couple months ago. The slightly smaller Gen 4 grip is nice and the grip texture is great. The accuracy of both is very impressive.

Then I've never handled a Kahr so can't weigh in on it.

the holster makes an enormous difference, i really like a really good worked in leather pancake holster (kind of like working in a good ball glove) when you remove your side arm, i take mine out and set it in my desk drawer, it will flatten out against your body comfortably i prefer galco and bianchi JMO but rdl65 is right
 
My favorite carry piece is Ruger LCP. That gun goes with me EVERYWHERE except swiming. I have another gun in my auto but it's so big there is no way i can cover it and not have people know. I carry the LCP in shorts in summer with a t-shirt and nobody ever knows I'm armed.

My brother bought the EMP....too many FTF and it had to be sent back...at greater than a $1000 for a handgun that tells me their quality on that gun lacks something...Just my unhumbled opinion.

XD Subcompact. I shot it pretty well at a range as a rental gun...I just HAD to get one.

I've tried shooting a 40 cal a time or two, and just didn't like it. I found recoil too "snappy" for me to shoot comfortably.

i used to have a xd subcompact 40 and i was not a fan at all, but Glock has pretty much always been my go to plastic gun

I have the 9mm.
 
I carried a G30 for a few years based on Glock's reputation for making a durable gun. However, carrying a subcompact .45 with a 10 round capacity felt too awkward. The gun was just too heavy for my liking. I also couldn't shoot it worth a darn. Ended up trading it for a Kimber Crimson Ultra Carry II. The Kimber is so much easier to carry and conceal. I can also strike a match with it as it is very accurate. Thing is...its so dang handsome that I'm scared to get it dirty and scratched up by carrying it everyday.
