Never caught or even seen one in person until yesterday.... fished for a little in Fountain Creek at the Duck River (TWRA river access area). Dang that creek is crystal clear. Buffs and carpsuckers feeding all over the place.... none would take the bait so I resorted to snaggin which is pretty fun. Had one 4-5 lb buff snagged right in the lip, but I made the mistake of dragging him up the steep bank with the line... hook popped out
This carpsucker also wouldn't take the bait... I think I had a trout magnet on for this one... so he swam right over it and I popped him in the pectoral fin.
He became cutbait and I fished a little longer but no catfish as I had hoped. Good looking fishing hole though, I need to take my boat up into the creek sometime.
Didn't see any carp in there though... does anyone know if there are a lot of carp in the Duck river? I know it is overloaded with buffalo and apparently carpsuckers but I'd love to night fish for carp there cause they fight 5x harder.
