Hi all,

Thanks for the add! I am a born and raised Oregonian and so is my wife. She has family who were born and raised in TN though and we'll be making our first trip there in late Nov 2026. We'll be with family for Thanksgiving and then I'll stick around for a week to get my first dedicated Whitetail hunt under my belt!! I'm crazy excited for getting after some critters as well as just laying eyes on what I suspect is some beautiful country!

Good luck on your hunt. November is a great month to be in the deer woods.
Have you ever hunted the blacktail deer or mule deer in Oregon?
Thank you! I'm crazy excited for the hunt!!
Yep, I hunt deer every chance I get! I'm heading to Eastern Oregon in about 5 weeks to chase Muleys and I drew a hair tag for Blacktail this year too! I tend to save that tag until late November into early December. Somewhere in there, I also have to find time to hunt elk and Fall black bear! :)

Welcome to our TnDeer mad house and to Benton Co. Several on here are from Benton county. Lets us know when you get here and we give a shout out to yea.
Thanks for the welcome! :) I'm sure you'll be hearing from me a lot as the trip gets closer! ;) Especially as I'm hearing more about pigs and bear down that way!

Welcome jcloer and I hope your Tennessee hunt is successful.
Whereabouts in Oregon are you from? I lived in Warrenton and worked in Astoria back in the mid-80s. Hunted blacktails, of course. Tough to hunt in the thick but was able to score when one wandered into a clearcut:)

Thank you!
I was born and raised in the farm area outside of Eugene. I've been on the Western side of Portland suburbs for the last 25 years. Started in Beaverton for a few years, spent 19 years in Hillsboro and now live in MAC. Blacktail are an absolute blast to hunt as long as you appreciate a challenge! :) Congrats on having taken one!

"Crazy excited" is gonna freak some folks out

Try…
"I'm happier than a q u e e r in a pecker tree"

Or

"Fixin to get after it"

"Dirt nap'em" - deer down(ish)
"Dropped the hammer on a giant" - usually means you made a bad shot on a spike or doe 🤣

Glad you dropped in. Hope you have a great time in the TN woods. The overwhelming sense of freedom you're about to experience is called 'Merica

I guess we know who the s*** starter is in the group. 😜🤣
Just wanted to know. I like to green stripe Liberals upon their arrival so I don't have to read about their Oregonian Liberal drivel. If you are on the Right, welcome aboard. If you are on the Left, just stay there. Pretty simple concept.

Guess what!!! Right wing kool aid slurpers don't own TN anymore than they own the flag or patriotism. Shoot...I hope that isn't too complex of a concept for you to grasp. ;)
